"Ekalavya" Director Saab ka Reaction...

Yesterday was a special day for me and my team. I presented my play “Eklavya” in the international festival at Pasto, a province in Colombia. There was a mad rush for the show, as if everyone of the city wanted to witness a play coming from India, a spiritual land for them. Everyone wanted to have a glance at the Indian culture. The gallery of “Teatro Imperial” (the most sophisticated Spanish architectural theatre building built in 19th century) was jam packed and more than that was knocking the entrance gate to enter inside the theatre. I have never experienced so much of crowd for theatre in India, not even in Bharat Rang mahotsav. Most of the audience were holding placards with the sign of Indian flags and written on it “We love you India”.... What a wonderful sight!!!! Their screaming, soughing and noise stopped with the announcement of the organizer who announced the opening of the play with introduction to the story. There was pin drop silence in the three storied audience gallery till the play ends. Then a loud noise...woh!!!! which was followed by nonstop applaud. Some people climbed the stage to hug us, some busy taking autographs, photographed with us and many many appreciations. Hope in my own country I get that appreciation....though I have given far better productions in India. I know that we are very poor... even in appreciation!!!!!
